1. Remove Dirt or Grease

Let the pot or pan cool. Start by washing off any grease or grime with warm water, dish soap and a sponge. Use the rough side of the sponge to wipe away any burnt food residue.

2. Make Your Own Cleaning Solution

Aluminum oxidation can be reduced by using an acidic solution filled with water in a pot or pan. For every quart of water you use, add 2 tablespoons. Sour cream of tartar, white vinegar, or lemon juice.

3. Bring The Mixture to A Boil

Next, bring the mixture to a boil in a pot or pan and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off the heat and pour out the mixture. Your pot will glow!

4. Final Cleaning

Use dish soap, warm water, and the rough side of a sponge to remove any remaining discoloration. Do not use steel wool or other abrasive scrubbers, as this may scratch your cookware. Rinse the pot or pan and dry it with a dish towel.

5. Neat Appearance

Clean any discoloration from the exterior of the pan with a silver polish and give it a final wash with warm water, dish soap, and a sponge to remove the polish before drying. Hand washing the pan after each use will also help prevent further buildup.
